TRAVEL AND TOURISM ADMINISTRATION

Program of Study Description:

Students enrolled in this 2-Years plus an Optional Foundation Year, program earn a Diploma in Travel and Tourism Administration. The aim of the program is to aid students in developing skills and knowledge in the Travel and Tourism sector and specifically the design, creation and application of tourism products and their marketing and sale nationally and internationally. This program of study consists of twenty-six (26) courses and it requires a minimum of 120 ECTS to graduate and the passing mark is 50%.

Learning outcomes:

• To provide students with a stimulating learning environment with the employment of different educational methods and Information and Communication Technologies like the Internet, Educational Software and dvds.
• To give the students the knowledge and skills in order to evolve in the Travel and Tourism sector.
• To develop students’ creativity through reading, writing and also practicing on travel packages and products.
• To increase students’ cultural awareness and sense of predicting on how different sociological characteristics would lead to different reactions for travel products and destinations.
• To embed to students, the essence and importance of business ethics in their dealings with customers, suppliers and other associates by studying though real case studies and learn how to make ethical decision based on their morale and existing ethical theories.
• To refine student’s presentation and communication skills not only in a foreign language but also in presenting their product orally and in writing.
• To optimize students’ knowledge on helping customers, make recommendations for different travel products and services and solve problematic situations.
• To explain to students how each part of legislation can affect the operation of a travel and tourism organization.
• To assist the student in pursuing qualifications through external examinations.
• To enhance practical skills (manual and technological) necessary for the Travel and Tourism sector.
• To develop students’ skills in leadership and supervising staff and maintaining constructive relations with management
• To introduce students to the various approaches of planning in different levels (community, national, international) and the proper development of the tourism industry

Student admission requirements

The criteria for admission to the College are as follows:
1. A recognized Secondary School Leaving Certificate with an average mark of at least 15/20 (75%) or equivalent qualifications; and
2. Evidence of proficiency in the English language. The following are considered acceptable proofs:
i. a score of 550 or higher. in the TOEFL test;
ii. a grade of "B" or higher in the GCSE "O" level English Language examination;
iii. a grade of "B" or higher in the Cambridge Certificate of English Language examination; and
iv. an average grade of 6.5 in IELTS examinations with no sub-score under 5.5.
